Travel Basketball

St. Rose CYO Travel Basketball is organized by Nassau/Suffolk CYO. This program is competitive and requires tryouts. Selection to a team is not guaranteed.

Important! The St. Rose CYO Travel program follows the rules of the Nassau/Suffolk CYO Travel Sport Leagues which states that participants must be a legal resident of the parish they are registering to play for.

Legal residence is defined as one of the following descriptions:

  • Geographic Location - the primary residence of the participant is located within the Diocese published boundary of the parish (St. Rose of Lima Parish Boundary Map).
  • Parish School Student - currently enrolled in the parish school.
  • Registered Parishioner - must be registered in the parish and enrolled in the parish religious education program (aka CCD, Faith Formation) for at least two (2) years prior to the start of the sport's season.

The St. Rose CYO program intends to be in compliance with these rules.

   ** TRAVEL BASKETBALL - BOYS & GIRLS - GRADES 4 thru 8 **

To be considered for a St. Rose CYO Travel Basketball Team (4-8) you must first register to TRY-OUT.

Try-out Information (grades 4-8): 

  • Open to boys and girls in grades 4 thru 8.
  • Online registration for TRYOUTS opens April 15th and closes May 15th.
  • There is a $10 non-refundable fee to register.
  • Players must register to try-out between April 15 & May 15. Late registration and walk-ins on the day of tryout is not permitted. 
  • Players must meet the Travel Eligibility Requirement as stated above. Please contact the CYO office if you have questions about Eligibility before you register.
  • Players must be registered to tryout and attend the travel tryout session(s) in order to be considered for selection to a travel team.
  • Tryouts tentatively scheduled for June. Actual dates will be posted by mid-April.
  • An email will be sent indicating if you have or have not  been selected to a travel team within 24-72 hours.

Travel Season Information (grades 4-8):

  • Season:    Winter Boys: (October thru March)
  •                  Winter Girls:  (September thru January)
  • Divisions:  Boys & Girls Grades 4 thru 8  (individual grade teams)
  • Maximum 2 teams per grade
  • Available only to players who were selected to a Travel team (registration instructions will be emailed).
  • Please Note: Participation in Intramural Basketball is optional for players selected to either the "A" or "B" travel team. If you want to play Intramural Basketball, you must register for Intramural Basketball separately starting on July 10th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
** TRAVEL BASKETBALL - BOYS & GIRLS - GRADES 9 thru 12 **

The registration for Travel Basketball (9-12) is a combined tryout & season registration.  If the player is selected to a Travel Team, then no further payment is required. If a player is not selected to a Travel Team, the registration fee minus $10 (tryout fee) will be refunded.  

  • Online registration opens on July 10th.
  • Open to boys and girls in grades 9 thru 12.
  • Players must meet the Travel Eligibility Requirement as stated above. Please contact the CYO office if you have questions about Eligibility before you register.
  • Season:    Fall (September thru November)
  • Divisions:  Boys Grades 9 & 10 - TYRO      (combined grade teams)
  •                  Girls  Grades 9 & 10 - TYRO      (combined grade teams)
  •                  Boys Grades 11 & 12 - Seniors  (combined grade teams)
  •                  Girls  Grades 11 & 12 - Seniors  (combined grade teams)
  • Maximum 2 teams per division
  • Tryouts tentatively scheduled for first week in September. Actual dates will be posted by Mid-August.
  • An email will be sent indicating if you have or have not  been selected to a travel team within 24-72 hours.
  • Please Note: Travel Basketball (9-12) and Intramural Basketball are two separate sports that require two separate registrations. Participants have the option of registering for both sports or just one.
